Folk Papercutting Workshop - Introduction to Papercutting for Beginners (11th of October, 2026)

£50.00
Limit 1 per order

Come and join me in a beautiful countryside studio to learn the art of folk paper cutting!

This is an introductory workshop to the art of paper cutting. Suitable for complete beginners, or people who have experience in art and design but want to try a new medium of paper.

We will be learning about the history of Polish papercutting (otherwise known as ‘wycinanki’ in Polish), and methods to create your own folk style paper art.

The general theme will be natural folk motifs, and we’ll have plenty of inspiration to guide us. We'll be working from templates, so no need for any artistic skills! You’ll have an option to use a variety of templates or draw freehand, should you wish.

We will be learning about creating symmetrical folk papercuts, as well as various ways of approaching papercutting in general, looking at different methods, aesthetics, papers, and how to stay safe using the tools.

We will be working with A4 size pieces of paper and various templates, so at the end you will have your own unique handmade A4 sized papercut to take home, ready to be framed as you wish!

The session will be held between 11am - 2pm on Sunday the 11th of October at Kingfisher Studios & Gallery in Kiddington, West Oxfordshire.

All information will be sent directly to your email, so please ensure to provide an email at checkout.

Things to note:

  • This is my first workshop, with 10 spaces available. More dates will be added if there is demand!

  • No previous experience is required.

  • The minimum age is 18 years due to the sharp tools we'll be using.

  • We will have a range of soft drinks and tea, as well as homemade cakes.

  • All tools will be provided, and you’ll be able to take your finished piece/s home!

Materials provided (not to be taken home):

  • cutting mats

  • scissors & craft knifes

  • a selection of paper and card stock in multiple colours

  • tracing paper

  • pencils

  • books for inspiration

  • teas and cakes!
